The economic slowdown is changing the way IC professionals communicate according to an article in Corp Comms Magazine (www.corpcommsmagazine.co.uk) Citing research conducted by Allman Communication, it found that: « 8 out of 10 IC professionals intend to increase spend on ‘quick listening channels’ such as face-to-face meetings « 62% intend to increase spend on the intranet whilst; « 1/3 will cut back on internal events, such as conferences The survey also found that although over half claim that headcount won’t change in the coming year, 78% of internal communications budgets will be cut or frozen, with just 8% having an increased budget this year. Jenny Cahill, Chapple’s Internal Comms, Change and Engagement Specialist says: “Internal Comms professionals should be reassured that despite budget cuts, most organizations seem to appreciate that when times get tough, not communicating, to staff, consumers and shareholders, is simply not an option.”
