UK job market improves as placements increase

Now here’s a (credible) survey that gives us a reason to be optimistic! The Recruitment & Employment Confederation and KPMG have reported a fifth consecutive month of higher staff appointments, and the fastest rate of growth since July 2007. Temporary placements also rose for a fifth month to 59.7 on the index, up from 56.1 and the sharpest pace of increase since June 2007. And average salaries for permanent jobs rose for the second month running. It’s worth noting, though, that the prospect of public sector job cuts in the latter part of 2010 is likely to put the brakes on further growth.
